Invitation

We would like to invite you to participate in our next, Nineteenth Annual Sydney Symposium of Social Psychology. The Symposium will be held in at the Coogee Bay Hotel, one of Sydney’s attractive seaside suburbs facing the South Pacific Ocean, on the 14-16thth March, 2017.

These meetings are held every year on a different topic, and bring together leading international researchers in a major field of social psychology (see our website at www.sydneysymposium.unsw.edu.au for details, programs, pictures of past symposia, etc.). These small group meetings have a reputation of being among the most stimulating, enjoyable and fun conferences in our field - feel free to check with any of the past participants (click here for a list)!! The topic of next year's symposium is

THE SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY OF THE GOOD LIFE

The conference seeks to bring together researchers who are interested in understanding what social psychology can contribute to our understanding of how the ‘good life’ should be lived, in the broadest sense of this term.
Several substantive areas of social psychology are highly relevant to this topic, including research on positive psychology, self-processes, relationships, social attitudes, social motivation, economic psychology, affective processes. self-control and work on interpersonal behavior. As always the topic is broadly defined and we are interested in contribution from a wide variety of theoretical backgrounds.

Our aim is to survey the latest developments in theory and empirical research in this exciting and rapidly developing area. Given your important contribution to this field, we really hope that you will be able to participate. Contributions will be subsequently published in a book form by Psychology Press, New York. Invited contributions should be first authors on the paper, and normally present an overview of a significant area of research emphasizing especially the latest theoretical and empirical developments (the target word length for the eventual chapter is 6000 words, so it is a fairly concise project).

We very much hope that you will be able to come to Sydney next March. If you can accept our invitation, please -

  1. Indicate your acceptance or rejection of our invitation in the next few days; and please send us an abstract of your proposed paper within the next ten days, and
  2. We will also need to receive an advance written draft text of your contribution by the end of December 2016.

Thank you for considering this, and we look forward to hearing from you!
