Invitation

We would like to invite you to participate as a contributor in our next, Twenty-Second Annual Sydney Symposium of Social Psychology. This time the Symposium will be held in Europe, outside Budapest, in Visegrad, Hungary, on the 27-31st July 2020.

These meetings are held every year on a different topic, and bring together leading international researchers covering a major topic in social psychology (see www.sydneysymposium.unsw.edu.au for details, programs, pictures of past symposia, etc. See also https://www.crcpress.com/Sydney-Symposium-of-Social-Psychology/book-series/TFSE00262 for information about pour book series). The Sydney Symposia have a reputation of being among the most stimulating, enjoyable and fun small group conferences in our field - feel free to check with our past participants. The topic of this year's symposium is

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF POPULISM

The conference seeks to bring together researchers who are interested in understanding what social psychology can contribute to our understanding of the recent rise of populist political movements in a number of countries. We hope to invite researchers working in any area of social psychology that can contribute to our understanding political behavior.

We believe that most substantive areas of social psychology are highly relevant to understanding the psychological processes underlying populism, including research on attitudes and values, evolutionary influences, social cognition, social influence, social identity, social motivation, political psychology, etc. As always the topic is broadly defined and we are interested in contributions from a wide variety of empirical and theoretical backgrounds that can contribute to our understanding of the role of social psychological processes in the spread of populism.
